Summary

Perdue Transportation is seeking a highly committed and experienced Driver Supervisor to lead and support our Professional Driver fleet, with a primary focus on Agri-Business operations. This pivotal role oversees 50–100 Professional Drivers and manages yard assets valued between $750,000 and $1.5 million, with mandatory travel of up to 26 weeks per year required to support the four offsite locations within the operating network. Responsibilities include driving performance management and ensuring strict adherence to all DOT and FMCSA regulations. Maintains a crucial base knowledge of oil, containers, or drayage operations to serve as the primary liaison between Transportation and Agribusiness partners to improve overall operational efficiencies.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Supervision: Responsible for the direct supervision of drivers, rigorous compliance management (DOT, safety), and performance coaching.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage and administer 24/7 transportation operations, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of agricultural products.
  • Agri-Business Focus: A foundational requirement is a base knowledge of oil, containers, or drayage operations, as these are integral to our Agri-Business logistics flow.
  • Fleet Performance Optimization: Conduct daily analysis of key fleet operational metrics (KPIs) and driver schedules. Ensure operational targets are met through consistent, data-backed feedback and in-person coaching that enforces accountability per SOPs.
  • Asset and Safety Management: Conducts safety system reviews, leads accident investigations, oversees trailer and tractor inventory.
  • Strategic Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison between Transportation and our Agribusiness partners to identify process bottlenecks and drive collaborative initiatives to improve operational efficiencies across the supply chain.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Conduct in-person interviews for new hires and develop a comprehensive Fleet Retention Plan addressing current challenges and strategies for retaining both new and existing drivers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Education

Required: High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • General knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations, with strong geographical familiarity across the Eastern U.S.
  • 3–5 years of experience in transportation, distribution, or logistics
  • Strong communication and project management capabilities
  • Proven supervisory or management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Flexible work schedule, including varied hours and days, to accommodate weather, holidays, and service disruptions
  • Availability on a 24/7 on-call basis for issues related to customer service or driver safety
  • Ability to travel between facility locations 50% of the time
  • Role requires physical activity
  • Exposure to office equipment, outdoor weather conditions, and shop environments
