Summary
Support safe and efficient live production operations through quality craftsmanship and equipment reliability. As a Cage Repair Welder, you will maintain and repair live haul cages and transportation equipment to ensure the safe, dependable movement of live birds. You will apply your welding and fabrication skills to keep equipment operating at peak performance, assist with yard upkeep, monitor birds in cooling sheds, and serve as a backup CDL driver when needed to support operational continuity. This role is ideal for a skilled, hands-on professional who enjoys solving mechanical challenges, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where safety, teamwork, and reliability are key to success.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:30am-2:30pm
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Regularly inspect cages, hold-downs, and cooling shed equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
- Timely repair damaged cages, tie-downs, and binders, and return them to safe working conditions for transportation.
- Maintain cleanliness of the department, work area, equipment, and building grounds.
- Safely operate a forklift to move equipment as needed.
- Perform all other departmental and facility duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development.
- Welding certification and/or a minimum of 6 months of Tungsten Inert Gas welding experience.
- Strong reading, math, and analytical skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Meet all qualifications for a Live Haul Driver.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Work in outdoor weather conditions as seasonal temperatures dictate.
- Wear required safety equipment as designated by management.
- Work on various surfaces, including wet, dry, level, and uneven surfaces, and at varying heights.
- Climb onto forklifts, tractors, trailers, other equipment, and ladders.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Drive and haul for up to 14 hours on duty.
